  • Southern Banker Magazine - Managing Editor (1989-1991)
    • Managed editorial operations; wrote and edited articles covering all aspects of the industry; covered institutions of all sizes.
    • Wrote articles for American Banker, which owned Southern Banker at the time.

  • Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta – Editor (1991-1994)
    • Managed editorial operations; edited and wrote articles on economics, banking and Federal Reserve operations for three quarterly national newsletters, Economics Update, Financial Update and Regional Update.
    • Freelanced banking articles for Georgia Trend magazine during this period.

  • Wachovia Corporation – Vice President, Public Relations Manager (1994-1998)
    • Managed the PR programs for the company’s Georgia consumer bank, its credit card bank, capital markets and treasury services divisions.
    • Wrote news releases, bylined articles and speeches for executives, standby statements and various other internal and external communications.
    • Edited the corporation’s Community Reinvestment Act magazines; planned and executed internal and external communications programs for the 1996 Summer Olympics.

  • William Mills Agency – Group Director, Editorial Director (1998-1999)
    • Managed PR programs for clients that sell technology products and services to the banking industry; had overall responsibility for the firm’s editorial quality.
    • Wrote and/or edited bylined articles for executives, news releases and various other communications pieces for clients.

  • Manning, Selvage & Lee – Editorial Director, Sr. Acct. Supervisor (1999-2000)
    • Managed PR programs of financial and technology companies, including directly representing Centura Banks Inc.; supervised agency’s editorial output & taught writing classes.
    • Wrote and/or edited various editorial and communications pieces, including annual reports, Web sites, speeches, brochures, press kit materials, bylined articles, case studies and news releases.
    • Wrote 1999 Centura Banks Inc. annual report, which won the National Association of Investors Corporation’s Nicholson Award as best annual report among mid-sized financial services companies.
